a) REPORT 18-0181 CONSIDERATION OF THE SUBMITTAL OF A RESOLUTION OR
LETTER SUPPORTING A REQUIREMENT TO IMPROVE SAFETY
AT THE TORRANCE REFINERY BY THE SCAQMD THROUGH
THE RULE 1410 PROCESS AND OPPOSING TO THE USE OF
MODIFIED HYDROFLUORIC ACID AT THE REFINERY
(Environmental Analyst Kristy Morris)
As an Emergency Preparedness Commissioner for the City of Hermosa Beach, I strongly support improved safety of the Torrance refinery.
At this time I respectfully request the City Council to not to take a position on this issue.
I do not believe the City Council has publicly presented justification to oppose MHF, and any opposition is only political.
I am extremely disappoint that the City Council decided to bypass the Emergency Preparedness Advisory Commission in this process, as I am in favor of an open and honest debate on this issue.
