Please DO NOT accept staff recommendation on the mile mark project and DO accept the recommendations made from the Parks & Rec commission.
Staff's recommendation is not a "slight modification" to Parks & Rec recommendation. Staff is literally over ruling what 4 commissioners unanimously decided. The 5th commissioner had to recuse herself.
Please take the time to watch the Parks & Rec meeting. The commission did research, talked to residents and had a thoughtful and thorough discussion (over 1 hour) before reaching their recommendations.
Now one person on the city staff is recommending to negate all of that. What is the purpose of the commission, if staff summarily dismisses a unanimous vote of the commissioners?
Also, two of the commissioners also gave a good deal of feedback given their experience in the arts and none of that feedback was incorporated into the final sign size, placement, material, or content.
