This contract should not be approved and it is rather shocking that it is even being proposed. The city is facing a deficit in the millions of dollars. A Public Relations consultant is not needed and is a frivolous use of taxpayer money. When is staff and the city council going to recognize this and begin cutting costs? You need to start now, not let the deficits continue to pile up. This position was initially instituted only due to the oil ballot initiative. This is in the rear view mirror. Now this position only exists to spin the news and ensure local papers only publish positive articles on the city. Press releases can easily be written by staff.
