As a resident and commercial property owner I would encourage the committee to work to remove the impediments to sensible redevelopment of our downtown core. The current zoning and parking restrictions create significant barriers to development that would benefit the residents and businesses. We need to rethink the models of the past, as the pandemics has dealt a mortal blow to our guest serving business community. If we could be permitted to develop mixed use commercial/residential development, it would be a sustainable game changer for Hermosa. It would also go a long way in addressing the State mandated housing development requirements. Absent the desire to rethink our downtown core and make it sustainable, I am afraid the decay will only continue.
