Name of Case: Granite Re, Inc. DBA Granite Surety Insurance Company v. City of Hermosa Beach (Case No. 2:23-cv-1548)
I reside three blocks away from the Good Stuff. I have been a resident and property owner since 1997. I am a regular client of the Good Stuff. Observations by me since the expansion took place confirm the open space does not infringe on people walking from the parking garage to the beach. I have seen groups of four or six people doing this walk. The umbrellas that are out on a sunny day add to the beauty as you approach the Strand. People eating outside at the Good Stuff love the movement of people and the views. I strongly oppose the change that is up for consideration. Spend more time addressing the dangerous use of electric bikes on the Strand and the walk streets. This is an area of liability for the City of Hermosa Beach.
Please please please do not take away the outdoor eating area next to Good Stuff. It’s my favorite go to place, especially at the end of a bike ride. I have been supporting this business for 30 years and the charm of sitting outside on a beautiful day with a view of the ocean, watching the people walk on the strand is paradise to me. There is plenty of space to walk along the northside by the bike racks from the parking lot and the charm must remain as is please please I’m begging you.
Please, PLEASE, don’t take away the outdoor dining at Good Stuff! I’ve lived in the South Bay since the and their patio dining has always been the “go to” place. It’s not in the way of anything. Bikers, walkers, skaters, anyone, is not hampered by the patio. I strongly oppose any restrictions contemplated for the outdoor dining. Please- let’s keep this iconic beach community’s dining option the way it is- unless Good Stuff wants to change it. It’d be a darn shame to lose that option for outdoor dining. Thank you for your consideration of my comment.
Not sure why we would need an initiative like this. It will curtail business and make the plaza and pier Ave less appealing for tourists and business owners alike. We have a fun, actively and lively beach town that most love and enjoy just as is. Strongly oppose.
